An "Earth Day" event in Lehighton scheduled for Sunday didn't get the cooperation of Mother Nature and had to be postponed.

The Lehighton Downtown Initiative Committee had planned a clean-up in the Lehighton Borough Park; especially in the vicinity of the fountain.

Todd Zimmerman, coordinator of the event, said the clean-up will instead occur next Sunday, April 29, beginning at noon.

He said anyone interested in participating should contact him at toddpzimmerman@yahoo.com [1].

Zimmerman said gloves, vests, and trash bags will be provided. If anyone can bring a rake for the parks, that would be appreciated.

The Downtown Initiative Committee has several other upcoming events scheduled. They include:

* Lehighton Community Days, May 18 and 19 - This two-day event will be held at the Community Grove and feature Metz Carnival Rides.

* The LDIC Lehighton Downtown Amazing Race, May 19, beginning at 9 a.m. The course is a minimum of four to five miles.

* 14th Annual Lehighton Bike Night, Saturday, Aug. 11, noon to 8 p.m. around the downtown parks. For more information contact frank@experiencelehighton.com [2].
