Lehigh Valley Post Office will be open regular hours on Tax Day, April 17.
A previous news release incorrectly stated hours would be extended.
With the deadline for filing income tax returns rapidly approaching, the Lehigh Valley Post Office is getting ready for last minute filers.
Last minute tax filers can deposit their tax returns in the collection boxes in front of the Lehigh Valley Post Office, 17 S. Commerce Way until 12:59 p.m. on April 17, this year's tax deadline, and still receive a postmark. This is the only post office in the immediate area with a late postmark.
The retail window will be open regular hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Customers who need face to face retail transactions are advised to get to the window before closing time.
Customers needing to purchase stamps or to obtain retail service after 6 p.m. can use the Self Service Mailing and Shipping Center located in the main lobby. Using a debit or credit card, customers can weigh and mail their taxes or other mail 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Postal Service offers the following advice to tax filers:
Ÿ Mail as early in the day as possible.
Ÿ Always include your return address on your mailpiece.
Ÿ Be certain to weigh your returns or extension requests on a postal scale and affix the proper amount of postage. This is especially true if you are filing extra forms or schedules this year. Tax agencies will not pay postage due, short-paid tax filings must be returned for additional postage. Ordinarily, that means you'll miss the deadline.
Ÿ Customers who need retail window service are advised to the to the post office before closing time.
