The Lansford Parks and Recreation Board is looking for a few good people to help spiff up the pool.

The group is relying on volunteers to do their part to clean up and spruce up the pool and its buildings and grounds. Work sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays on April 14, April 21 and April 24.

Anyone wanting to help is asked to call Marie Ondrus at (570) 645 -7766. Volunteers will need to bring rakes, brooms and buckets.

The Parks and Recreation Board has also sent letters to businesses and civic organizations, asking them to help sponsor a room. With a donation, they will get their name on a plaque. They can also volunteer to come help paint, fix up, spruce up the pool and surrounding areas. The spring spruce-up will focus on the north side rooms and the concession stand area, painting, putting new lights. Rooms to be fixed up include the pool office, the ladies' and men's rooms, an activity room, dressing rooms and first aid room and concession stand. Also, volunteers will be cleaning up the area around the pool and playground area, coinciding with the "Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful" campaign. Members of Lansford Alive and the borough's volunteer firefighters will be participating. The group hopes to get high school students on board to help as well as to fulfill their community service requirement.
