Adult Day Care
The Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center is conducting a non-perishable food drive to benefit the Tamaqua Salvation Army Food Bank. Donated goods will be accepted Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., through Nov. 1.
The center has a variety of activities planned for October, including a pancake breakfast on Oct. 4.
Other activities for the month will include: Oct. 5, bingo; Oct. 7, musical entertainment with Rob; Oct. 12, sing-a-long with Audrey Christ; Oct. 12, foot doctor visit; Oct. 14, Dutch Day at Holy Family; Oct. 17, craft day; Oct. 18, pizza party; Oct. 19, Salvation Army service; Oct. 26, monthly birthday party; Oct. 28, Frankenstein Friday; Oct. 31, visit from St. Jerome's kindergarten class and a Halloween party.
In addition to weekly sing-a-longs, exercise sessions, a variety of therapies and social games, the center provides for hairstyling and manicure service.
Both require advance notice. Breakfast, lunch and a snack are served daily.

A Blessing of Animals will be held this Sunday, at 10:45 a.m., at Calvary Episcopal Church, 300 W. Broad St. A second blessing service will be held at noon, outside of the church.
Pet owners are responsible for the proper control of their pets, as well as any "accidents."

The Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a public debate between candidates for the position of Schuylkill County Commissioner.
The debate will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Oct. 12, at the Tamaqua Community Center.

The Rev. Sunny Stock will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this World Wide Communion Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley.
Featured speakers will be Greg and Barb Hutchins of Youth With a Mission.
