Emergency personnel were called to SR309, north of the Basile's Restaurant and Grove Street intersection, following a three vehicle accident just after 1 p.m. Friday in Hometown.
Reportedly, Nicole Horack, 22, Tamaqua, was traveling south on SR309 when her black KIA Sportage struck a vehicle driven by Heather Markey of Tamaqua. Horack's vehicle then rolled across a median and over the north bound lane, where it struck a silver Chevrolet Impala being driven north on SR309 by Steven Cullen.
Horack and Cullen were both ejected during the impact and transported to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital in Coaldale. Markey and her 9-month-old son were not injured. A passenger in the Horack vehicle, Brian York, 24, refused treatment.
Horack reportedly showed signs of intoxication and submitted to a blood test.
Rush Township Police found drug paraphernalia laying outside the vehicle and a small amount of marijuana and an open beer can inside.
The Markey vehicle suffered minor damage and was drivable.
Responding were police departments from Rush Township, Tamaqua and Kline Township. State police also assisted at the scene. Corporal Duane Frederick, Rush Township police, is the investigating officer.
Also responding were Tamaqua Ambulance, Lehighton Ambulance, Tamaqua Rescue, Hometown Fire Company and fire police.
The conditions of Horack and Cullen were unavailable as of press time.
