'Rags, Riches and Reality Revue'

Those looking for a little taste of Broadway can get their fill this weekend when

H.T.O. Services' Musique presents "The Rags, Riches and Reality Revue," at the Lehighton Borough Annex Auditorium, located at 110 North Third St. in Lehighton.Showtimes are 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 and 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 18.Dubbed a celebration of the "rags, the riches, and the reality of the Great White Way," the show will feature selections from five popular musicals: Annie Get Your Gun, Oliver!, Annie, Chorus Line and 42nd Street."The Rags, Riches Reality Revue is a realistic look at Broadway," says director Jonathan M. Rodgers. "Being a professional performer is not always about the glitz, glamour and show. It is always a work in progress and no two performances will be exactly the same."The RRRR show will give an honest look at the life of a performer by using parts of existing Broadway shows," adds Rodgers. "The song selections demonstrate each character at their lowest point and when they are in the peak of their performance."Annie Oakley (played by Marissa Miller) is a country girl who earns a spot in the mainstream for being an expert markswoman. Along the way, she happens to fall for Frank (played by Zane Bachert)Oliver (played by Kane Zerbe) and Annie (played by Danielle Fox) are both orphan children who find happiness and the love of adults.A Chorus Line is the story of 19 performers who audition for a Broadway musical and each song is a character's story. The musical opens with a song entitled "Sing." Al (played by Ryan Miorelli) and Kristine (played by Teah Garrison) tell this story.The "Rags, Riches and Reality Revue" ends with music from 42nd Street, in which the diva, portrayed by Michelle Stoudt, turns over the stage to a chorus girl from Allentown, Pa., as played by Garrison.The show features ensemble tap numbers, theater dance, local voices and a chance for families to sit back and appreciate great Broadway music.Additional performers in the show include Tyler Dietz, Brenda Fritzinger, Karen Kappes, Kim Klein, Jonathan M. Rodgers, Keith Shelly II and Cameron Zerbe.Lourdes Vargas is the assistant director.
