A Schuylkill County man is facing a charge of simple assault following an incident that occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 7, about 4:29 p.m.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Matthew Robert Seitz, 24, of 333 Mahantongo St., Tremont, got into a physical altercation with Simone Rose Smith, 21, also of that address.
During the course of the altercation Seitz allegedly grabbed Smith by her hair, banged her head on the wooden baseboard surrounding the bedroom. He then put his arm around her throat until she dropped down/went limp, then began to bang her head on the floor.
Smith received a bloody lip, a scratch across her throat, cut to her right ear and bruising and swelling to her right eye, troopers said.
Seitz was taken into custody and arraigned before duty District Judge James Ferrier, of Orwigsburg. Troopers did not indicate if Seitz posted bail.
