Wanted: Artists and photographers for the 2011 Palmerton Concourse Club's Annual Palmerton Community Festival Art and Photography Show. They need you to help make it another smashing success.
This year's event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 11, 1-4 p.m. It will be held at St. John Neumann School at Third and Lafayette Ave. in Palmerton.
The category divisions are for youth and adults. They include all media paintings and black/white and color photographs.
Best of Show, People's Choice, First, Second and Honorable Mention winners will be chosen with a variety of prizes for the winners.
There is a registration fee of $5 for each entry and there are only three entries per person allowed.
Those who wish to become a part of the art show and exhibit their work, or to learn more about it, contact Venita Horinko, the club's art show chairwoman at 610-377-0530.
The adult art judge will be Barbara Cortese, a graduate of Penn State with a B.S. degree in art education and a Master's Degree in studio art from Marywood University.
She is currently teaching at Pleasant Valley High School and judges at numerous art shows and also exhibits her own work.
The student art judge will be Erica Pozza.
She is a graduate of Kutztown University with a degree in art education. She has taught in the New York Public School System for several years and has done after-school art programs.
The photography judge will be Lynn Shupp.
She has attended the Art Institute in Philadelphia and has her own photography shop at Fireline Rd., Palmerton.
There will be a raffle with three prizes to be awarded the day of the show.
The prizes are: a watercolor painting of the Wehr's Covered Bridge in Lehigh County by John R. Brown, Jr.; a handmade quilt by Mary Brigham; two angels by Jim Shore donated by the Owl's Nest Gift Shop, located in the Palmerton Campus of the Blue Mountain Health System.
An Artist Bargain Corner will also take place in which various local artists will have their work for sale.
The cost of these paintings or artwork will be less than $150.
