A Coaldale man was cited Sunday, Oct. 23, after he was observed urinating in public in Tamaqua.
Police were dispatched to Fegley's Mini Mart on Center Street at 3:30 a.m. after receiving a report from a security guard.
The guard reported that a man had just crossed Center Street, then proceeded to urinate on the guard's vehicle, which was parked on the mini mart's lot. The suspect, who was wearing a tie dyed tee shirt, then re-crossed the street and was standing in front of the Tamaqua Diner.
As the officer approached the suspect started walking north on Center Street. He was stopped and identified as Michael T. Watkins, 21, of 504 W. Water St.
Watkins was visibly intoxicated and denied being involved in the incident. Watkins' friends agreed to take him home.
As the officer pulled out he observed Watkins making his way back to the mini mart, where he confronted the security guard.
Watkins was then taken into custody and given a portable breath test, which registered a .22 blood alcohol content.
He was issued a citation for public drunkenness.
