A popular attention-getter with young kids everywhere, Ronald McDonald both entertained and educated students from kindergarten through second grade during a recent visit to the L.B. Morris Elementary School in Jim Thorpe.

Ronald had no shortage of anxious volunteers to answer questions or help out with magic tricks and skits during his visit with them in the school's gym.

The main goal of his visit was to help teach these younger students how to recognize and handle bullying in their school.

After telling them to inform their teacher, principal, parents, and friends about potential bullies, he explained to them that "bullies will disappear when the teacher is near".

Speaking about the program, Assistant Principal Dave McAndrew Jr. said that "the younger we can teach these kids what bullying is, the better the school environment will be for them."

Ronald's visit with the L.B. Morris students was sponsored by Scott Kavlick, the owner of the Nesquehoning McDonald's, with Todd Scheckler, general manager in attendance.
