State Senator John Yudichak (D. District 14) recently visited Kovatch Ford to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the family owned dealership and present John Kovatch III, dealer principal, with a Senate citation of congratulations.

The Kovatch Ford dealership is part of an automotive group owned by Kovatch that includes new and preowned vehicles as well as Ford, International and Isuzu trucks. Kovatch's manufacturing facility is also housed in Nesquehoning and is home to over 600 employees that custom manufacture a full range of municipal and commercial vehicles.

Kovatch Ford began in 1986 and was a sister dealership to other existing Kovatch franchises with both GM and Jeep. In 2009 many US automotive manufacturers went through massive changes during a bankruptcy process, yet Ford Motor Company continued to be a successful supplier. Kovatch Ford continued to grow during that time and John Kovatch III wisely continued to reinvest into the dealership.

According to Kovatch, "In 2009, GM told us that Carbon County did not have the demographics to support a GM dealership. Not in Nesquehoning, nor in any other location in Carbon County." Consequently, Kovatch decided not to renew its franchise relationship with both GM and Jeep. Today, Kovatch Ford's sales have increased 300 percent since 2009 and the dealership is proud to supply vehicles to the county and surrounding area.

John Kovatch III states, "Perhaps GM doesn't believe so, but I strongly believe that the citizens of Carbon County desire and deserve a full service automotive dealership with honest sales people, a variety of financing options, and a certified service and parts center. We're doing that today and that's why we've continued to grow."
