Lansford man stabbed during home invasion

A man is fighting for his life after being stabbed in a home invasion Thursday night in Lansford.

Lansford Police Officer Chris Ondrus early Friday said authorities would not release the names of those involved. He said that four people - three men and a woman - are facing charges.The incident began when police received a call at 10:27 p.m. from someone at the American Legion at 3 W. Ridge St., whosaid there was a male there who was bleeding.Police immediately dispatched emergency medical services to attend to the victim, who had numerous stab wounds.The man was treated at the scene by members of the Lansford ambulance and Lehighton paramedics and transported to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, where he received additional treatment for his wounds. A short time later he was flown via MedEvac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Trauma Center in Allentown.A preliminary investigation revealed the incident began in the 100 block of East Snyder Avenue. State police at Lehighton are continuing the investigation.A state police dispatcher early Friday would not give any information, and said a press release would be issued, but would not say when.Ondrus said in addition to every available Lansford officer, police from Coaldale, Nesquehoning and Summit Hill assisted. Members of American Fire Co. No. 1, Lansford, provided lightingHe and Det./Sgt. Jack Soberick praised police for the "excellent police work and communications."Carbon County District Attorney Gary Dobias was on scene until the early morning hours, but could not be reached for comment.Lansford police converged on the site of the home invasion at 115 East Snyder Ave., reporting the inside of the residence was covered in blood. Police issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) for three men involved in the incident, one being described as six feet, six inches tall weighing in excess of two hundred pounds.In gaining access to the home, police did not find a female who was thought to be at the scene adding to the radio broadcast of a possible abduction of the woman.Police closed down East Snyder Avenue as officers looked for evidence.
