Tamaqua students cited after incident

Tamaqua police were dispatched to the Tamaqua Area Senior High School Friday afternoon, Oct. 7, to deal with an irate parent and two students who had allegedly been involved in a scuffle.

The students, two males ages 14 and 16, were reportedly involved in an altercation as they were leaving the school cafeteria. Administrative personnel found tobacco products on the younger male and contacted his father regarding the district's zero tolerance policy. The father arrived at the school and took exception to the punishment, claiming his son was just holding the tobacco product for a friend and that the other boy was the aggressor. Video of the incident disputed that, as it showed the younger male elbowing the other student.Citations will be filed.
