Five TIMES NEWS area tennis players have qualified for this year's District 11 Singles Tournament at West End Racquet Club.

Pleasant Valley's Lauren Heckelman and Sara Elmontacir will begin play in the Class AAA bracket this afternoon at 1 p.m.Heckelman will face the tourney's No. 1 seed Freedom's Marielle McIntyre while Elmontacir will play Northampton's Darby McCall.Friday, Jim Thorpe's Kasey Herman and Gabbie Binder along with Tamaqua's Nicki Mateyak will start action in the Class AA bracket at 1 p.m.Herman will face Saucon Valley's Kendall Kramer, Binder will play Central Catholic's Caroline Bondie, and Mateyak will take on Wilson's Jani Swiatek.Both the Class AA and AAA tournaments are single elimination. First and second round matches will be played on the opening days. Quarterfinal and semifinal round action for both classes will be played Saturday. On Monday, the finals and consolation matches will be played in both classes.
