A former Allentown man, accused of raping a 14- year-old Tamaqua girl in September, waived his right to a preliminary hearing before District Judge Stephen Bayer on Tuesday.

David Scott Reed, 24, who told police he has no permanent address and has been staying wherever he could, reportedly had sex with the teen while she was visiting with a friend on Center Street on Sept. 5. He was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, indecent exposure and corruption of minors on Sept. 13. The charges were filed by Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods.

According to the affadvit of probable cause, the girl was visiting with her friend, sitting on the couch and playing video games, when Reed asked her if she was "ready to have sex." She declined, but Reed persisted in making advances until she felt compelled to consent.

Reed is listed as a lifetime offender on the Megan's Law website, committing his original offense in Delaware.

He was returned to the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, in lieu of $75,000 bail, to await trial.
