State police at Fern Ridge reported on two crashes investigated by troopers both occurring in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. One crash led to a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) against the driver.
Troopers said about 12:10 a.m. on Sept. 21 Gregory J. May 23, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 1993 Mazda MX6 southbound on Weir Lake road when he lost control. The car left the road on the west shoulder and struck the guide rail. After impact the car continued southbound and struck a house on the northbound shoulder where it came to rest.
May suffered a minor injury and was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance.
He was cited for DUI.
The second crash occurred about 7:59 a.m. on Sept. 29 along Sugar Hollow Road. Troopers said Myriam Jean, 41, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2000 Toyota Corolla eastbound when she lost control while negotiating a left hand curve. The car went onto the south shoulder and struck the guard rail with the front end.
Jean was not injured. She was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
