Textile Waste Company burns

Firefighters from throughout Schuylkill and Berks counties battled a stubborn commercial structure fire at the Cressona Textile Waste Company in Cressona on Saturday. The fire was first discovered at 6:30 p.m. When firefighters arrived on scene flames were shooting through the one-story masonry structure, which is located at the intersection of Front and Chestnut streets. State police Fire Marshal Michael Yeity said the cause of the blaze is still under investigation. He estimated damages at $100,000 to $150,000. The business separates cleaning rags and then sells them to other companies.
