Approximately 30 volunteers from both Schuylkill and Carbon counties chose to spend their Thanksgiving Day preparing, serving, and delivering meals to hundreds of shut-ins, senior citizens, disabled persons, or anyone else who could use some holiday cheer.

Over 230 meals were prepared and served at the Tamaqua Salvation Army Community Center, while about 75 local deliveries were made.

For the third year, volunteers from Christ Evangelical Free Church (CEFC) in Lehighton stepped up to help the Tamaqua Salvation Army fill food boxes for the holiday season, as well as serve and deliver free dinners Thursday.

Both Tamaqua Salvation Army Major Sharon Whispell and Major Margaret Johnson were thankful for all the volunteers who helped bring joy to so many for the holidays.
