Heritage Hill woman turns 94

Faith Faust, a resident of Heritage Hill, recently celebrated her 94th birthday. She was born in Plymouth, Pa. on Nov. 20, 1917.

She spent her early years at Scales Siding near White Haven and attended a one-room schoolhouse there. She later attended Ripples School and graduated from Foster High School.After high school Faith met the man she would later marry, Robert C. Faust. They courted until "Bob" returned from World War II and were married on May 1, 1946. They have been married for 65 years.During the war Faith lived in Wilkes-Barre and worked at an Atlantic Gas station there.When her boss enlisted in the Navy she became manager. A society column at the time noted that she was the only woman servicing cars and pumping gas in the Wyoming Valley.Once an avid painter, over the years Faith has displayed many paintings in art shows, won various awards and sold many of her works throughout the country.Her love of painting once secured her a job teaching art at a Youth Forestry Camp in Hickory Run State Park for eight years.After retiring she enjoyed traveling with Bob. They have toured the United States several times and spent their 50th anniversary in Hawaii.Over the years Faith has also enjoyed rock hounding, playing the piano, writing poetry and especially feeding and photographing her wildlife "critters" in Rockport.Faith and Bob have two children: Robert W. Faust, Puyallup, Wash. and (Sally) Dawn Faust Watts, Richfield, Utah; plus many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
