Carbon man facing assault charge

A Carbon County resident is facing a charge of simple assault following an incident that occurred on Friday, Nov. 11, in Weissport. It was one of three incidents reported by state police at Lehighton.

Troopers said about 9:50 a.m. in the 200 block of White St., Guy Francis Hartman, 48, of Ashfield, and Lawney Strohl, 43, of Weissport, were involved in a physical altercation. During the altercation Strohl allegedly used an aluminum baseball bat to strike Hartman across his back twice causing a minor injury.In addition to the charge of simple assault, Strohl was also charged with harassment, troopers said.Troopers said two females, ages 15 and 17, are facing charges following an incident that occurred about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, in Weissport Park. Troopers said the two shot a 12-year-old male and a 16-year-old female in the face and body with a BB gun causing minor injuries to the two victims.The two females were charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct, troopers added.On Friday, about 10 p.m., troopers responded to 1128 Dinkey Road, in Lehighton, for a report of a harassment. Candy Bossart, 38, of Palmerton, reported she was sitting on her porch when two unknown females approached her and physically assaulted her for unknown reasons. The two suspects then fled the scene.
