Carbon County voters on Tuesday elected all new faces to represent them on the Palmerton school boards, and added a married couple to the Panther Valley board.

Here are the results, according to unofficial tallies:

PANTHER VALLEY SCHOOL BOARD:

There were five open 4-year seats on the board. The school district encompasses the Carbon County towns of Nesquehoning, Summit Hill and Lansford, and the Schuylkill County town of Coaldale.

Incumbent Anthony DeMarco was overall top vote-getter with a total of 2,008 votes (1,720 in Carbon and 288 in Schuylkill); incumbents William Hunsicker Sr. was next with 1,915 votes (1,629 in Carbon and 286 in Schuylkill); Jeffrey Markovich with 1,649 votes (1,370 in Carbon and 279 in Schuylkill); R. Mickey Angst with 1,571 votes (1,287 in Carbon and 284 in Schuylkill) and newcomer Michelle Markovich (Jeffrey Markovich's wife), who won 1,517 votes (1,301 in Carbon and 216 in Schuylkill). Newcomer Michael Celentano trailed with 1,410 votes (1,115 in Carbon and 295 in Schuylkill). There were also 71 write-in votes, but details on those tallies were not available as of early Wednesday.

Michelle Markovich ran on the Democratic ticket and Celantano on the Republican. All other candidates cross-filed.

LEHIGHTON AREA SCHOOL BOARD:

Candidates vied for election to five 4-year terms and one 2-year term.

Top vote-getter for a four-year term was incumbent Wayne W. Wentz, with 2,534 votes; newcomer Rocky C. Ahner received 2,394; newcomer Tom Zimmerman IV had 2,347 votes; incumbent Andrew Yenser 2,259; incumbent Larry E. Stern 2,138; and. There were 470 write-in votes, yet to be tallied.

Incumbent Harold Resh was unopposed for the 2-year term, and garnered 2,489 votes. There were also 26 write-in votes. All of the candidates ran on both tickets for the General election.

PALMERTON AREA SCHOOL BOARD:

Voters swept new faces into five 4-year terms on the board: Tammy L. Recker was top vote-getter with 1,670 votes; Josann M. Harry, 1,602; Charles C. Gildner, 1,542; Joshua C. Smale, 1,522; and Sherry Cseh-White, 1,427. There were also 272 write-in votes. All candidates ran on both tickets.

JIM THORPE AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT:

Voters elected mostly newcomers to six 4-year terms on the board. Incumbent Clement C. McGinley won the most votes at 1,930; Pearl Downs-Sheckler, 1,909; Jeremy Melber, 1,754; Bill Allison, 1,526; and John Partenio, 1,343; Debra A. Pope, 1,247. Dirk J. Pompa trailed with 1,167 votes.

Incumbent Gerald F. Strubinger was unopposed for the sole 2-year term on the board, with 2,080 votes. There were also 41 write-in votes.

Pompa and Pope ran on the Democratic ticket, and Partenio and Allison on the Republican. All others cross-filed.

WEATHERLY AREA SCHOOL BOARD:

Voters selected people to five 4-year terms on the board. Top vote-getter was Gerard Grega with 823 votes; incumbent Edward Skip Snyder, 797; incumbent Georgeann R. Herling, 782; incumbent Thomas D. Russell, 779; incumbent William H. Gerhard, 631; and incumbent Girard A. Fewins Sr., 481. There were also 26 write-in votes.

Gerard Grega was also unopposed for the 2-year term, 877 votes. There were also 8 write-in votes for that seat.

HAZLETON AREA SCHOOL BOARD:

Four 4-year seats on the board were filled. Robert W. Childs was top vote-getter with 356 votes; Tony Bonomo, 333; Brian Earley, 323; and Robbie Wallace, 323. Trailing were Marfy Yanac with 276 votes and Rocco Formica with 274. There were also 3 write-in votes.

Yanac ran on the Republican ticket and Formica on the Democratic. All other candidates ran on both.
