"We have excellent customers," says Cesar Fernandez, front-end manager of Kinsley's ShopRite Market in Brodheadsville. "They really came through with our coat drive."

In its Partners in Caring Coat Drive, which ended Oct. 31, over 500 gently-used and some brand new, coats and jackets were donated. Gloves, hats, scarves were also donated. An organization that knits and crochets, donated several hand-knitted gloves, mittens and scarves.

Lori Fernandez, Kinsley's controller, says the donated items have already benefitted some folks and will benefit more in need who are served by Effort UMC's Supplemental Food Resource Center, the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network Community Service Center or the Salvation Army.

Prior to the coat drive, Kinsley's also held a food drive and collected over $7,000 worth of groceries that were distributed to Effort UMC's Supplemental Food Resource Center, the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network Community Service Center, Our Lady Queen of Peace's Soup Kitchen and the Salvation Army.

To make it easier for their customers, Kinsley's had prepacked bags worth $5 and $10 with items needed at the food centers that the customer could purchase.

Fernandez is in agreement with her husband, Cesar, when she says that Kinsley's has the best customers. But she goes one step further.

"The Kinsley family is very generous," says Lori Fernandez. "We get several requests every week for donations in addition to the register tape 1 percent program. The donations, year-to-date are, $92,961.23. They're just a wonderful family to work for."

Kinsley's is a family-owned business since 1950 and has been at its current Brodheadsville location since 1987.

Bob Kinsley is president and CEO, his wife, Doris is secretary. Their son, Chris Kinsley is vice president and general manager, their daughter Dee Dee Jacoby is treasurer.

Their two grandsons, Chris Kinsley, Jr. (JR) and Robbie Kinsley also work in the store.

They are currently building a new 95,000-square-foot store on Weir Lake Road in Brodheadsville, that is scheduled to open in the spring of 2012.
