Eight persons with pending criminal charges entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court on Tuesday.

The pleas were accepted by Senior Judge Richard W. Webb from the following:

Carl John Buchola, 56, of Kunkletown, pleaded to one count of driving under the influence (DUI). He was arrested on Jan. 28 along SR209 in Franklin Township. Given a test, the result was .28BAC.

Webb sentenced him to serve five days to six months in jail, pay a fine of $300, one year license suspension, get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, and zero tolerance imposed on D&A use.

He will begin the jail term on Nov. 16 at 10 a.m.

Josh Frank Christman, 29, of Weissport, pleaded to one count each of theft of movable property, receiving stolen property and possession of unstamped cigarettes. He was arrested by Franklin Township police for an incident on Oct. 9, 2009, at the Beltzville Storage along Pohopoco Drive.

Christman was placed on probation for a year on each count, running concurrent to each other.

Elizabeth Marianna Finkel, 49, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of DUI, a first offense. She was arrested on March 9, 2010, along Spruce Hollow Road in Lower Towamensing Township, by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .09BAC.

Webb placed her on probation for six months and ordered she pay a fine of $300 and get a D&A evaluation.

Nicholas Richard Gildner, 32, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of DUI, a first offense. He was arrested on Nov. 24, 2010, along SR248 in Franklin Township, by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .19BAC.

Webb placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300 and get a D&A evaluation.

Jason Adam Hersh, 37, of Walnutport, pleaded to one count of DUI, a first offense. He was arrested on March 27 along SR248 in Palmerton by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .14BAC.

Webb placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300 and get a D&A evaluation.

Tyler Matthew Hosier, 20, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of theft of movable property. He was arrested on July 16 by Palmerton police for an incident involving Jonathan Zerby, as the victim, in the parking lot of the Convenient Food Mart.

Webb placed him on probation for a year, giving him credit for seven days spent in jail on the charge.

Barry Tindula, 23, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of theft of movable property. He was arrested on April 29, by state police at Lehighton for an incident in Parryville invovling Jennifer Solt as the victim.

Webb deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation (PSI) report.

Valerie Williams, 24, of Kensington, Philadelphia, formerly of Lansford, pleaded to one count of harassment. She was arrested by Nesquehoning police for an incident on Sept. 11, 2009, following a domestic incident at 125 W. Railroad St., with Andre Morales, the listed victim.

Webb placed her on probation for a year.

Each defendant sentenced must pay court costs, which average about $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
