State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes, including two hit and runs, investigated by troopers recently.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 12:05 p.m. May 4 along Effort Neola Road in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Joseph J. Rock, 64, of Effort, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound and negotiating a left hand curve when he lost control of the car, traveled onto the berm and struck a tree.

Rock was injured and taken to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance.

A one vehicle crash occurred about 6:25 p.m. May 6 along Rocky Mountain South Drive, in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Richter J. Baez, 18, of Effort, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer eastbound and negotiating a left curve when the Blazer went onto the berm and struck a tree with the front passenger side.

Baez was not injured. He was cited for traveling on roadways laned for traffic.

A hit-and-run accident was investigated on Sunday, May 8, along Kenny Drive, in Jackson Township, Monroe County. Troopers said a vehicle was driven off the road and struck a mailbox. The driver failed to stop at the scene.

The second hit-and-run occurred about 5:22 p.m. May 6 along SR534 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Eric Marcher, 47, of Stroudsburg, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Express van southbound and stopped to make a left turn into a driveway. His van was struck on the rear driver's side by another vehicle whose driver then fled the scene. Marcher was not injured.

The hit and run vehicle is a Dodge Caravan, troopers said.

Troopers investigated a crash at 8:28 p.m. on April 22 along SR715 in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Kevin J. Shevlin, 17, of Effort, pulled onto 715 from Effort Neola Road and into the path of Zeshan Khan, 24, of Stroudsburg. Khan's 2005 Toyota TC struck the driver side door of Shevlin's 2002 Mitsubishi Mirage. Shevlin was injured and taken to the PMC by West End ambulance. Khan was not injured.

Troopers cited Shevlin for failing to obey stop signs and yield signs.
