A Victorian Fashion Show at Eckley Miners' Village Sunday, May 22, from 2-5 p.m. will take visitors back in time to a more elegant period.

Fashions may come and go, but some classics are never out of style. Such are the fashions of the Victorian era.

These garments and accessories of timeless elegance will be on display in a large tent in front of Eckley's historic Sharpe House for a genteel afternoon of remembering how it used to be.

The clothing and accessories of each model will be discussed either by the model or by a commentator. Models from Wilkes-Barre, Jim Thorpe and Eckley will not only parade their finery, but be available for questions after the show.

Visitors are encouraged to tour the Sharpe House after the show. Guests will be able to view a display of Victorian jewelry and hat pins in one room while, in another, they will be given an explanation of Victorian mourning practices and burial customs.

There is a fee. For more information, call (570) 636-2070 or visit the village website at www.eckleyvillagemuseum.com [1]

Eckley is located just off Route 940 in Luzerne County, 10 miles east of downtown Hazleton.
