The Recycling Racoons from L.B. Morris Elementary School in Jim Thorpe took the first place prize during the 2011 fourth and fifth grade (Explorers division) Envirothon, held at the Carbon County Environmental Education Center in Summit Hill on Tuesday. The Envirothon events are sponsored by area Lions clubs. Other teams that placed are: Poison Oaks of St. John Neumann, second; Green Thumbs of Tamaqua Elementary, third; and Penn Kidder Eagles of Penn Kidder Elementary School, honorable mention.
