The Lehighton Area High School Choruses will be presenting their 94th Annual Spring Choral Concert on Sunday, May 15, at 3 p.m.
This year's program will highlight selections from past and current Broadway shows.
"Broadway Bash" will feature the Concert Choir; Girl's Sextet; Men's Choir; Women's Choir; Guy's Augmented Quartet; "Varsity Voices"; and the award-winning show choir, "Music Express".
The choirs are under the direction of Mr. David Perkins and accompanied by Rebecca Hoffner, and Elyse Kistler.
The choirs will perform selections from Broadway Shows from the past to the present. Some of the highlights will include selections from:
"The Lion King", "Billy Elliott", "Sweeney Todd", "Ragtime", "Phantom of the Opera", Les Miserables", "Hair", "Rock of Ages", "Guys and Dolls", The Frank Sinatra Musical "Come Fly With Me", "Mary Poppins", "Hairspray", "Tarzan", "Aida", "The Little Mermaid", "Beauty and the Beast", and the selections from the tribute to Elvis Presley, "All Shook Up".
The vocalists will also perform traditional concert literature with a selection by John Leavitt entitled "Festival Sanctus" and spirituals by Rollo Dillworth and Keith Hampton.
The concert contains Broadway selections that should appeal to all ages and everyone is encouraged to attend this afternoon of Broadway here in Lehighton.
The Lehighton Area H.S. Concert Choir, their show choir, and vocal jazz group will be performing in an adjudicated festival on Friday, May 6 in Jackson, New Jersey with the Music In the Parks Festival.
Schools representing three states will be vying for awards in the choir and instrumental categories. Awards will be presented at Great Adventure that day.
Tickets for the May 15 concert are available in advance and at the door. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens.
