Over a dozen of Palmerton Area High School's finest showed exactly why there are considered the "Future"
That would be in the form of the 14 PAHS students who competed in the 60th annual Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference held earlier this month in Hershey.
Blake Campbell and Karl Pielmeier competed in Business Application; Elizabeth Hahn and Amy Hudock in Computer Applications; Aleksander Everett in Database Design and Applications; Lydia Anthony and Brandon Scherer in Desktop Publishing; Chuck Sterling in Healthcare Administration; Erica Hudock, Alexandria Quinn and Laurel Seemiller in Introduction to Business Communication; Alexander Miller in Spreadsheet Applications; Tiffany Reis in Word Processing I; and John Achtermann in Word Processing II.
As part of the Awards of Excellence ceremony, Everett, Pielmeier, Campbell and Seemiller earned top ten honors. Everett won first place in Database Design and Applications; Pielmeier, second place in Business Communication; Campbell, fifth place in Business Communication; and Seemiller, 10th place in Introduction to Business Communication.
That means Everett and Pielmeier have qualified to attend the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Orlando, FL, this summer.
Several students from the Palmerton FBLA also turned in top 25 performances at the State Leadership Conference.
Amy Hudock took 11th place in Computer Applications; Miller, 12th place, in Spreadsheet Applications; Sterling, 13th place, in Healthcare Administration; Scherer and Anthony, 14th place, in Desktop Publishing; Achtermann, 18th place, in Word Processing II; and Erica Hudock, 25th place, in Introduction to Business Communication.
The opening session of the SLC included a motivational presentation by Sam Glenn, according to Michelle Muffley, high school FBLA advisor.
At that time, Muffley said the students also had the opportunity to attend various workshops, and watch other FBLA member's final round performances in events such as Public Speaking I and II, Impromptu Speaking, or Global Business.
