Marian swept Mahanoy Area in a Schuylkill League doubleheader, winning 1-0 and 5-4.
Game one's ending was quite bizarre. After reaching base on a bunt single, stealing second and moving to third on a ground out, the Fillies' Sam Faust stole home when Mahanoy Area lost track of the count. Thinking they had just recorded a strike out to end the inning (when in reality it was only strike two), the Golden Bears rolled the ball to the mound and began walking off the field. Faust then sprinted home for the game-winning run.
Game two had more of a traditional ending and saw the Fillies win 5-4. Kayla Knight and Gabby Green each had two hits, while teammates Alexa Nemeth and Shannon Skotek each legged out doubles.
Knight earned the win in both games. She went the distance in game one and then came in in relief in game two.
