One hundred local high school students descended upon the Pottsville Campus of McCann School of Business and Technology recently for the 7th Annual McCann Madness.
This annual event invites local high school juniors and seniors to the campus for a career focused scavenger hunt.
Students put together clues leading them to a career focused room where they must complete a challenge to get their next clue.
Students from the following districts competed in the challenge: Mahanoy Area, Schuylkill Haven, North Schuylkill, Marian Catholic, and Williams Valley.
This year, teams of high school students competed against one another in a scavenger hunt orchestrated around career fields, such as Criminal Justice, Allied Health, Massage, Technology, Early Childhood Education, and Business.
Each high school sent a team of students who had to scour the school to find clues and complete challenges in order to progress to the next clue.
One example: a riddle sent students to the Medical Lab where they had to identify three bones in order to get their next clue. Other challenges included: a hoola hoop challenge, name that jingle, basketball shoot, Technology Boggle and more.
According to Campus Director, Shannon Brennan, "the event is a fun way for students to learn about career opportunities in the area and also to learn more about McCann."
The 2011 McCann Madness Winning Team came from Mahanoy Area High School and included Crystal Russel, (Left to Right Taylor Pecika, Adriane Schock, Lenora Paulukonis, Jenna Sponseller, Bryan Peralta, and Jessica Rago.
McCann also offered various door prizes to participants. Jon Webster from Williams Valley School District won the grand prize, a 22-inch Panasonic LCD HDTV with iPod docking station.
McCann's other campuses are located in Hazleton, Sunbury, Dickson City, Allentown, and Carlisle.
