Niles Landers Grover, a resident at Heritage Hill Senior Community in Weatherly, celebrated his 90th birthday on Monday.

He was born on June 27, 1921 in Hudsondale. He has lived all of his life in this area.

Niles graduated in 1938 from Weatherly Area High School and was also a graduate of Hardwick University in New York.

During his service in World War II, as an Army Aircorp B-24 Bomber pilot, he received a Flying Distinguished Cross and various other medals of honor.

Since flying was his passion, he became a pilot for Seaboard World Airlines and traveled around the world many times with his employment with commercial airlines.

Niles married his wife, Chris, also a resident of Heritage Hill, on Dec. 3, 1948.

Niles and his wife will be married 63 years. They plan to honor their wedding anniversary with a special dinner at Heritage Hill.

The Grovers have one child, Jan L. Grover of Weatherly.

They have two grandchildren, Casey and Tyler.
