State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways, both occurring on Saturday, June 18.
A crash occurred about 11:50 a.m. along SR209 in Branch Township. Troopers said Clarke H. Woods, 53, of Enola, Cumberland County, was operating a 2006 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle northbound near the Pottsville city line when he ran over the remains of a animal. The rear wheel of the bike hit the squashed remains of a squirrel causing Woods to lose control. The bike slid onto its right side.
Woods, who was wearing a helmet, sustained injuries to his right elbow, arm and leg but said he would seek his own medical attention.
A crash occurred at 10:05 a.m. Saturday along Paradise Road, in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said a 17-year-old male from Pine Grove was driving a 1992 Ford F150 pickup truck eastbound and negotiating a slight left curve. The vehicle went off the road and struck a tree stump and an embankment. After impact the truck rolled onto its roof and came to rest in the eastbound lane.
The teen was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville, for treatment. He was cited for driving on roadways lane for traffic, troopers said.
