Coaldale man faces felony charges

Christopher Warner, of 324 Ridge Terrace, Coaldale, faces felony charges after an incident which took place between Jan. 7 and Jan. 14, 2011 on W. Kline Ave., Lansford. Charges were filed by Officer Joshua Tom. Warner is charged with the following; forgery, theft by unlawful taking, and receiving stolen property.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, here's what happened:On March 14 at about 9 p.m., Tom received a walk-in complaint from a David Kutz, who said that several checks for his Million O'Clock towing business had been stolen from his garage. Kutz told Tom that an employee, Christopher Warner, illegally took possession of business check 2050 without Kutz' knowledge.Warner was seen cashing the check by the owner of Paperman's, Tamaqua. Kutz obtained a copy of the cashed check from his bank. the image shows that the check was predated for Jan. 7, 2011, so it matched the last paycheck issued to Warner, check number 2049. The check was forged with Kutz' signature and made out to Warner for $800.Tom told Warner about the charges via telephone, and asked him to come to the police station for an interview. Warner has failed to comply.
