St. John Neumann Regional School has additional money in its coffers, thanks to a few brief trips around the block.

Recently, Rentschler Chevrolet Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Slatington presented the school with a $1,000 donation as part of Chrysler's Drive for the Kids program.Sister Virginia Stephanie, principal of the Palmerton campus, said each participant that took a brief test drive in a Town & Country earned a $10 contribution to the school from Chrysler.Rentschler Chevrolet Chrysler Jeep Dodge supplied the vehicles, and volunteers from the dealership were on hand to assist in the drive, she said."It's a wonderful program that Rentschler participates in," Sister Stephanie said. "Our parents and the neighboring communities really backed us up on this."Sister Stephanie said the donation will be used toward technology costs. She said the school currently has four smart boards, two at each campus."Our goal is to have smart boards in every classroom," she said. "It's a wonderful way to end the school year."Fred Rentschler, co-owner, said the dealership was more than happy to again participate in the program."We've been involved for over five years with the program," Rentschler said. "It's a fundraiser for them where we bring the cars up there, and the parents drive them to fundraise."Rentschler said the program is a good fit for both parties."It's good news; not only do we get people to experience our products, but it's also for the school," he said.
