Ricky Hunsicker Jr., 25, of 232 E. Patterson St., Lansford, faces charges from an incident which took place on Dec. 18, 2009, at 9:24 p.m. at 214 E. Snyder Ave. Charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (a felony), possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia were filed by Officer Joshua Tom.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, here's what happened:
Tom, along with Det./Sgt. Jack Soberick and Officer Thomas Fort, were dispatched to investigate a crime of violence at 214 East Snyder Ave.
While conducting a security search at the residence for a missing actor involved in the home invasion, Fort detected a strong smell of marijuana coming from the second floor front bedroom. He also observed, in plain sight, lying on top of a dresser, a weight scale, bags, a large knife and a small amount of marijuana.
The tenant of this property is Ricky Hunsicker, Jr., who was also a victim of the above-mentioned crime involving a home invasion at his residence. Hunsicker voluntarily admitted that the front bedroom was his, and that the items found inside this room were his property.
Hunsicker voluntarily gave up a light gray lockbox located inside his bedroom closet. The safe was locked at the time, and Hunsicker took the key from his pocket and opened it. The box contained an envelope with about $50 in cash, an unlabeled container that stored various prescribed drugs (several types of pills), and a total of 89.81 grams of marijuana. Hunsicker took full responsibility for the illegal items and drugs found.
