On Saturday evening, July 9, the Lehighton Band will be presenting a concert on the ball field at the Mauch Chunk Lake Park beginning at 7 p.m.
This is the third year that the band has performed at this venue and if this year is like the past, there will be a good crowd in attendance.
The concert is free and open to the public but you will need to bring a lawn chair as there is no seating on the field.
Paul R. Smith, conductor of the band, has selected a varied program with pieces sure to please everyone's choice of music.
Highlighting the program will be three selections featuring the music of the Broadway stage.
The first will be a medley of songs from four of Rodgers and Hammerstein's greatest hits in "The Golden Age Of Broadway." Later in the program will be "Broadway Show Stoppers" featuring songs from many great shows. Finally, the band will play selections from the great show, "Fiddler On The Roof."
Also on the program will be the foot stomping "Swing Your Partner" as well as Leroy Anderson's delightful "Fiddle Faddle."
For the young at heart, the band will play the classic rock tune "Rock Around The Clock."
No Lehighton Band concert would be complete without several good toe tapping marches. Included on this program will be Henry Fillmore's "American We" and "Rolling Thunder" as well as Roland Seitz's "Pomposo" America's march king, John Philip Sousa will be represented with "Washington Post."
The program will conclude with Carmen Dragon's beautiful arrangement of "America, The Beautiful."
