The Theater Club, a spinoff of the Carbon Schuylkill Community Theatre, is holding its next workshop at 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 10 at the Carbon County Cultural Project, next to the Flow restaurant, 268 W. Broadway in Jim Thorpe.

The workshop on "Ad-Libbing a Character on the Fly" will be led by Mark Davalos, a professional wrestling instructor who has appeared on three episodes of the Jerry Springer Show.

Davalos will introduce the psychological principals of pro wrestling, and discuss how a person develops a relationship to a character, how to capture an audience, and how to ad-lib on the fly in front of an audience.

"People will learn how to incorporate a character into themselves, make it a part of themselves and portray that," says Davalos. "They will learn how to speak to not just to the front row, but to people 20 rows out, and to tell a story using body language."

After an introduction, participants will have an opportunity to practice these character development ideas.

The event is free and the public is invited.
