Tamaqua Blue captured the District 18 9-10 year-old championship to highlight youth baseball league action on Tuesday.

In other action, Tamaqua opened Schuylkill-Berks Legion playoff action and Northern Valley closed out Lehigh Valley Legion regular season play.LITTLE LEAGUED-18 9-10 YEAR-OLDTamaqua Blue-TowamensingThe Tamaqua Blue scored four runs in the top of the fifth to post a come-from-behind 10-7 win over Towamensing Township to win the District 18 9-10-year old South Division title at McGarvey's Field in Jim Thorpe on.By virtue of the win, Tamaqua Blue will now take on North champion Valley West in the best-of-three championship series beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. at Jim Thorpe. The second game is scheduled for Friday night, with a third game, if necessary on Saturday.With Towamensing holding a 7-6 advantage, Nick Onea and Matt Gazdick singled and both scored on a double by Cody Hamm to push Blue in front, 8-7. Nate Boyle and Matt Kistler followed with two-out back-to-back triples to drive in the final two runs.Tamaqua Blue jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Derian Stianche hit a two-run single.Blue added two more in the second on a single by Brayden Knoblauch that drove them in for a 4-0 advantage.Towamensing battled back to pull within a run with three in the bottom of the inning. Eric Baumgardt doubled and scored on a sacrifice by Wade Haydt. Eric Nothstein followed with a double to knock in two more runs.In the third, Towamensing took a 5-4 lead. Tanner Burnett and Brody Behler hit back-to-back singles. Burnett eventually scored on a passed ball and Matt Dougherty's RBI plated Baumgardt.Blue went back on top with a pair of runs in the fourth as Gazdick hit an RBI double and was driven in by Cody Hamm.Towamensing's last lead came in the bottom of the inning when Owen Reis walked and Bernett, Behler and Baumgardt hit three straight singles scoring two runs.Tam. It was the opening game of the league's double elimination tournament.The two teams will resume play at 5:30 p.m. today. The league was forced to move back the entire North Division playoffs one day due to the suspension of that game.Minersville trailed 6-0 and 11-7, but grabbed a 14-11 lead heading into the seventh inning. Tamaqua tied it with three runs in the top of the seventh.LV LEGIONSalisbury-Northern ValleyNorthern Valley beat Salisbury, 10-1, to finish off the Lehigh Valley League regular season.Zach Palansky allowed three hits over five innings while striking out three.Five players (Payton Bachman, Jake Kern, Ty Cunnningham, Tyler Hill and Kyle Schomp) had two hits for Northern Valley (15-3).
