Carbon County Friends of Animals needs your vote.

The non-profit cat shelter in Jim Thorpe is again taking part in the Animal Rescue Site's $300,000 Shelter Challenge. The challenge will award one grand prize of $5,000 to the winning shelter; as well as 51 $1,000 state grants and various other smaller grants during the competition. A total of 68 grants totaling $75,000 will be awarded this challenge round.

Under the "Search and vote for a shelter," enter Carbon County Friends of Animals in the Shelter Name and select PA from the state category, then click search. Once CCFOA is retrieved through the search, click "Vote."

You can vote once a day until Sept. 18. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Currently, CCFOA is in fourth place in the Pennsylvania shelters who are competing and ranked 59th in the overall challenge.

CCFOA is a no-kill shelter caring for abused, neglected and surrendered cats. In addition to housing felines, the organization also assists with the rescue of any and all types of animals and also find foster and permanent homes for them.
