Carbon Career and Technical Institute (CCTI) received the award for Outstanding Career and Technical Education School from the Bureau of Career and Technical Education on February 9th. The award was presented to the CCTI's Joint Operating Committee meeting Thursday night.
Peggy Kalogerakis, Coordinator of School Improvement at CCTI, accepted the award at the Career and Technical Education month recognition breakfast in Harrisburg. "I was very proud to represent and accept this award on behalf of the administration and all who dedicate their time to CCTI. It truly was a moment never to be forgotten," stated Kalogerakis.
The criteria for this award are based on the AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress). CCTI made AYP, which is greatly based on PSSA test scores. CCTI was awarded this honor due to the percentage of proficient and advanced scores from last spring's 11th grade PSSA testing.
David Reinbold, Administrative Director at CCTI said, "52 percent of our students are proficient or advanced in math and 54 percent are proficient or advanced in reading. That's the highest we have had CCTI and we keep going up each year."
