Two men found guilty of criminal charges by a jury and 12 defendants who pleaded guilty last December were sentenced in the Schuylkill County court by President Judge William E. Baldwin.

Robert Lee Harris, 20, Shenandoah, who was found guilty by a jury last December of two robbery charges, was sentenced to serve four to eight years in a state correctional institution with credit for serving 540 days in the county prison. He was cited by Shenandoah Patrolman Jason Hayes, and charged with robbing Brandon Fowler at knife point and Jeffrey Najunis in October 2008.Luis Angel Diaz, 29, Shenandoah, who was found guilty by a jury last December of a number of criminal charges, was sentenced to serve a total of six to 14 years in a state correctional institution.On a charge of aggravated assault on a Pottsville police officer he was sentenced to serve four to 10 years, on a charge of intimidating a witness received a sentence of one to two years and on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in Pottsville received a one to two years sentence to run consecutively. He also must pay $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab and $50 to the district attorney's drug task force.Pleas enteredTwelve defendants who entered guilty pleas last December to criminal charges were also sentenced.Roderick Seymour, 35, of 223 Hazle St., Nuremberg, North Union Township, was sentenced on a driving under the influence (DUI) charge to serve 90 days to five years in the county prison with the sentence to begin March 7 at 9 a.m., pay a fine of $1,500, pay $100 to Catastrophe fund, $300 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, and $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA).On two summary charges, careless driving and illegal use of registration plate, was fined $50 plus $100 costs. He received credit towards his prison sentence of 25 days for spending in a rehabilitation center. Seymour was cited by McAdoo Patrolman Alfred Walsh, in December 2009 along Kennedy Drive. He also must enroll in the alcohol highway safe driving school.Christopher James Somereve, 32, Pottsville, was sentenced on two counts of DUI and received a total sentence of 180 days to 10 years to be served in the county prison beginning Feb. 21 at 9 a.m. He also must pay a fine of $1,500, pay $300 each to the SAE fund and Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend the safety school and receive outpatient counseling when released from prison.He also must pay fines on summary charges, $400 on two counts of driving while his operating privileges were suspended, $50 for public drunkenness, $50 for illegal parking on sidewalk, and $25 for failing to give immediate notice to police plus $1,905 in costs. He was cited by Pottsville police.Larry James Snyder. 66, Pottsville, on two DUI charges was sentenced to serve a total of 35 days to 12 months in the county prison beginning Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, at 9 a.m. He also must pay fines totaling $1,050, pay $300 to Catastrophe fund, $200 to SAE fund, $100 to CJEA, $120 to Schuylkill Medical Center, and attend safety school.On charges of disregarding the traffic lane was fined $25 and for failing to wear a seat belt was fined $10 plus $1,070 in costs. He was cited by Trooper Mark Ruscavage last September in Pottsville and by Butler Township Patrolman Raymond Horan, in September 2009.Ramona Diaz-Cruz, 41, Reading, retail theft from Walmart Store, Saint Clair, was sentenced to serve 11 1/2 to 23 months in the county prison with credit for spending 35 days in a rehab center, pay a bench warrant cost of $50 to district attorney's office, and make restitution of $569.04 to the store. She was cited by Saint Clair Patrolman Martin Sterner.Beverly Lynette Edwards, 50, Pottsville, retail theft from Walmart Store, Saint Clair, was sentenced to serve two years on probation, and pay $50 to CJEA. She was cited by Patrolman Joseph J. Leskin.Nicole Marie Price, 33, Pottsville, retail theft from Redner's Market, North Manheim Township, sentenced to serve four to 12 months in the county prison but in lieu of imprisonment is to be confined at home with electronic monitoring and pay a $12 fee. The confinement to begin Feb. 21. Price was cited by Troooper Mark F. Barron.Louis John Bova, 36, Mahanoy City, on a hit and run and drug charges was sentenced to serve a total of 48 months on probation, pay $200 to SAE fund, $150 to CJEA, and $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab.On charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession and on a charge of being involved in an accident on Centre Street in Mahanoy City must make restitution of $648.35 to Nationwide Insurance Company and $500 to Michele Andricks.Bova was also ordered pay a fine of $200 on a charge of failing to have a driver's license and $25 each on charges of violating a stop sign, limitations on backing, operating a vehicle without an inspection certificate and careless driving totaling $100 in fines plus $1,450 in costs.Stephen Francis Holmes, 38, Shenandoah, simple assault on Barbara Holmes, was given credit for spending 25 days in the county prison and was released on parole for 23 months and must successfully complete the Batters Program. He was cited by Shenandoah Patrolman George Carado.Derek Kotsko, 39, Hazleton, confinement of three pit bulls on premises at 142 E. Washington St., McAdoo, was placed on probation for 12 months and pay a fine of $1,050on the confirnement charges. On two counts of harboring dangerous dogs was fined $750. He was cited by McAdoo Patrolman Anthony Divirgillo.Edward Wallo Jr., 27, Dallas, Luzerne County, on a charge of theft by deception, was placed on probation 18 months. He was cited by Rush Township Cpl. Duane Frederick, for receiving a downpayment for a demolition job at the home of James Metzger Jr. and failing to complete the job. Wallo was also ordered to make restitution of $4,500 to Metzger.James David Bennett, 35, Frackville, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, was sentenced to serve three to 23 months in the county prison, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $368 in lab fees. He was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Brian Reno.Jose Manuel Ortiz, 44, Pottsville, on two charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance was sentenced to serve two to four years in a state correctional institution with credit for serving 202 days in the county prison, pay $100 to SAE fund and make restitution of $302 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. He was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Brian Reno.Each defendant must pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
