Perhaps there's no better time to accept that overture than this weekend when My Store in Palmerton holds its 10-year anniversary celebration.Located at 418 Delaware Avenue, the shop will conduct its three-day anniversary celebration from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, 9-5 Saturday and 11-3 Sunday.At that time, there will be a special 25-percent off sale on all Columbia winter sportswear items, as well as 10-percent off all other items. As an added bonus, customers can register to win two pair of Red Wing boots and two mens/ladies Carhartt jackets.Owners Dean and Susan Meckes said they're hopeful the celebration will result in a solid turnout."We're really excited," Susan Meckes said. "Hopefully, there will be a lot of people here."Dean Meckes said the shop has garnered a solid reputation as a business that carries top of the line products at affordable rates."We try to carry all quality products, which is what separates us from box stores," Dean Meckes said. "We try to have everyday low prices."Chief among the shop's top sales items are its Red Wing work boots, as well as an extensive selection of Carhartt products such as jackets, T-shirts, pants, and other forms of workwear.From a business perspective, Dean said the couple has 60 years of experience in the field between them. Prior to My Store, Dean had over 20 years experience as a buyer, while Susan had over 10 years experience as a retail manager."It's pretty rare for a store to make it as long as we have," Dean said. "We had plenty of knowledge and experience before we opened up here."Another plus is that Dean and Susan are available to assist their customers on a personal basis."My wife and I are here 95-percent of the time the store is open," he said. "Nobody beats our prices."Dean said another aspect that appeals to customers is the shop's centralized location."At Christmas time, they don't have to fight traffic jams and people thank us for not having to drive to Allentown," he said. "Palmerton is still a vibrant downtown shopping area."Susan said the shop also does special orders, and added there is no extra charge associated with lines that they carry. They also sell gift certificates, and do layaways with no layaway fee.That the shop has been able to survive 10 years in a harsh economic climate is a testament to the support it has received from its reliable customer base."We'd like to thank your loyal patrons," Dean said.
