Rush Township has received delivery of a new truck for its sewer department.

The vehicle, a 2011 Ford F-250 4x4 SD, was purchased through the Pennsylvania CoStars Program with KME/Kovatch Corporation, Nesquehoning.The vehicle cost approximately $32,000, according to Stephen W. Simchak, chairman of the Rush Township Board of Supervisors.The new Ford replaces the township's current sewer truck, which is about 15 years old and in need of major repairs.The truck, which includes the new Rush Township log on its side, is a regular cab eight-foot box with a snow plow prep package included, as well as its own emergency generator.Barry Messerschmidt, sales representative for the Kovatch Organization, presented Simchak with the keys to the vehicle. Messerschmidt also serves as the fire chief for the Hometown Fire Company.Also on hand for the delivery were Supervisor Robert J. Leibensperger, Road Foreman Gene Rutch, secretary-treasurer Terri Conville and Assistant Secretary Marie Skripnek.
