Both Pleasant Valley and Delaware Valley have plenty of youth throughout their rosters. But it was the Lady Bears whose young talent shone brighter, as they downed the Lady Warriors, 60-32, in a non-league battle.

The intense pressure defense of the hosts forced Delaware Valley into committing 29 turnovers in the contest. Those miscues gave way to plenty of easy baskets in transition for the Lady Bears. That advantage, along with Pleasant Valley's prowess on the glass where it held a 42-18 edge in rebounds, spelled certain doom for the visitors.

"All of the girls do a good job with rebounding and that's just another instance of the little things in games and doing them well," said Pleasant Valley head coach Nadia Gauronsky. "We've been stressing to the girls about the importance of doing the little things well in games and how far that goes."

Early on in the game, the Bears utilized runs of 6-0 and 7-0 to open up a 16-8 first frame edge. Eight different players scored for PV in that opening session.

In the second quarter, the Bears' offensive weaponry went to work as they outscored their opponents, 25-7 in the quarter. Jordan Meckes lit up for 11 points in the stanza, giving her team a 43-13 halftime bulge.

"There are going to be games that we don't do things well and there are going to be games where we do and tonight was an example of things going well for us," Gauronsky admitted, as she saw her team improve to 4-2 on the young season.

The second half opened up with Delaware Valley going on a 5-0 run. However, PV responded with a 12-0 run of their own to maintain the advantage.

The fourth saw the Lady Bears empty their bench, allowing their foes a 13-5 spread in the fourth.

"We had a losing season last year and we have two of our guards out with injuries so that is hurting us at the moment," said Delaware Valley coach Gina Lee mentioned.

Pleasant Valley was led in scoring by Meckes' 14 points and Kelecia Harris' 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The Lady Warriors were led by Gabrielle Noto's eight.
