The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that Walsh Construction will be establishing bi-directional and intermittent single-lane patterns on Route 248 through Thursday, Dec. 22, between 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., for the protection of workers and traffic during overhead bridge work on the Lehigh River Bridge.
Daytime lane closures in both directions will be in effect on Rt. 248 while the contractor continues installing shielding underneath the old Lehigh River Bridge in preparation of future demolition activities.
This work and associated traffic restrictions are currently scheduled to continue the week of Dec. 26 between 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., until the underdeck shielding is completed.
The single-lane traffic restrictions are approximately 1/2 mile long between State Street and Center Street on Route 248 in Parryville. Motorists should be prepared for slow-moving or stopped traffic when approaching the area until all crews and equipment are off the roadway. Obey posted speed limits and stay alert for construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.
All work is weather permitting and could be rescheduled. Please visit www.lehighbridge.com for all project related information.
