A Monroe County driver is facing charges following an incident that occurred early Tuesday morning, Dec. 6.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said about 2:30 a.m. officers attempted to stop a Nissan Maxima along SR940 in Blakeslee. Police said the driver entered the parking lot of the WaWa and then fled. Officers followed the Maxima into Greenwood Acres where the driver turned onto Birchwood Drive.
The driver then entered a driveway and entered a garage to the residence. The driver exited the vehicle and despite verbal commands from the officers attempted to close the garage door.
The officers were able to taken the person into custody. The suspect, identified as Kamar Samuels, 31, of Blakeslee, resisted arrest, police said, and continued to resist as officers attempted to place him in a police cruiser. Police said a taser had to be used to subdue Samuels.
Samuels has been charged with fleeing and attempting to elude police, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and various motor vehicle code violations.
