An energetic crowd watched the annual Tamaqua Beautification Association's Tree Lighting event held at the Depot Square Park, part of the finale of the four- day Spirit of Christmas Festival in Tamaqua.

Speakers included Kevin Steigerwalt, president, Tamaqua Beautification Association; Jean Ann Towle, chairman, Tamaqua Spirit of Christmas; and Micah Gursky, Tamaqua Borough Council President. Gursky said that the men should keep their eyes open for people in need while the women should strive to keep holiday traditions and values alive through our children.

In his address, Steigerwalt thanked the Spirit of Christmas Committee, Frank Fabrizio for his many years dedicated to decorating the park, as well as the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce and Tamaqua Borough Council for their dedicated work.

In addition to the speakers, spectators enjoyed holiday songs for the 20th year in a row by the Tamaqua Jazz Coral which was under the direction of John Buglio.

Following the tree lighting, everyone was invited to the Tamaqua Ambulance garage for free cookies and refreshments.
