Despite not having his sleigh, the sight of Santa Claus arriving via a PennSTAR helicopter thrilled youngsters during the Summit Hill Recreation Commission's annual Christmas on the Hill event held on the Ginder Field in Summit Hill.

The event was followed by breakfast with Santa at the Summit Hill Community Center. In addition to acting as Santa's elves, PennSTAR crew members gave visitors tours of their helicopter.

The children at the breakfast has a chance to write Santa a letter along with visiting with him.

"This spectacular event was held on behalf of the Recreation Commission, free of charge," said Monica Marshall, president of the Recreation Commission.

Guests were also encouraged to bring a Toys For Tots to help the Schuylkill Carbon Marine Corps League's annual Toys For Tots drive.

The arrival by helicopter was coordinated through the Lehighton Ambulance Association and Janner's Martial Arts, Jim Thorpe. Also assisting was the Summit Hill Fire Department.
