Two area drivers, one from Tamaqua and the other from Palmerton, were involved in separate crashes in Lehigh County recently.
A crash occurred about 10:27 a.m. on Nov. 21 at the on-ramp to Interstate 78 at Cedar Crest Blvd., in Salisbury Township. Troopers said Jeffrey A. Rhodes, 41, of Palmerton, was operating a 2001 Ford Focus and merging from the ramp to go eastbound on 78. Troopers said Rhodes was driving too fast for conditions and struck a 2005 Jeep Cherokee driven by Ronald R. Frantz, 65, of Easton.
The front left bumper of the Focus struck the right rear bumper of the Jeep. Troopers said Frantz suffered moderate and Rhodes minor injuries. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene, troopers said.
Troopers cited Rhodes for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.
The second crash occurred on Nov. 22 along SR22 in South Whitehall Township. Troopers said Cynthia Kutash, 61, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2006 Kia Optima eastbound in the right lane in the area of SR309 while Jeremy C. Burns, 28, of Stewartsville, N.J., was operating a 2007 Hyundai Ela eastbound in the left lane along side Kutash.
Troopers said Kutash lost contorl of her vehicle on the wet roadway and traveled into the left lane where the front driver's side quarter panel and wheel of the Kia struck the front passengers side quarter panel and wheel of the Hyundai.
No one was injured in the crash. The Hyundai had to be towed from the scene.
