Business owners in Downtown Palmerton are encouraged to, right smack dab in front of their establishments.
It's all part of a Scarecrow Display promoted by the Palmerton Area Chamber of Commerce in the month of October.
Businesses on Delaware Avenue have been invited to participate and have a scarecrow placed in front of their establishments, or, if they prefer, in their windows, said Joan Turko, coordinator of the Palmerton Area Chamber of Commerce Scarecrow Display.
But, the promotion and celebration isn't limited to just Delaware Avenue, as private homes are welcome to participate and show their creativity, Turko said.
"The Palmerton Area Chamber of Commerce is hoping this promotion will bring visitors to see our beautiful community and great businesses," Turko said.
The scarecrows are to be dressed in a manner which would identify their business, Turko said.
The displays will be available during the participants' business hours, she said.
Andrew Pisulak, president/owner of Palmerton Lumber Company, said that for a $10 fee, his business will make stands for any business that needs them. Stands can be ordered by calling Brian Billig at (610) 824-4888.
Palmerton plans to celebrate the centennial of its 1912 incorporation.
A kickoff dinner at Blue Ridge Country Club will be held Sept. 20 to start the celebration.
